Benefits of using your own Domain for your WEBKiosk

  1. High trust by visitors because they already know the domain. Users who come from your main website won’t have to leave the domain they are already on.

  2. Links always refer to your own domain, which increases your domains strength and popularity, for search engine optimiziation purposes.

  3. Search engines index your magazines directly on your domain, which is more likely to be clicked.

Why does my Kiosk need a DNS configuration?

The Domain Name Server (DNS) of your Domain, is managed by your hoster. Yumpu needs to know which Domain/Subdomain points to the Kiosk and your hoster needs to know, which domain (www.mydomain.com) or subdomain (subdomain.mydomain.com) should be referred to Yumpu.

Enter Domain/Subdomain at nameserver/host

First you have to change the CNAME entry at your domain/subdomain. If you don’t have a subdomain yet, you need to create one at your hoster. Then enter “webkiosks.yumpu.com” as the CNAME entry of your domain/subdomain. If possible enter the value 300 for the TTL. The subdomain is no configured properly. Depending on your hoster you may have to wait up to 24 hours until the changes take effect.

Test the configuration

Here’s how you can test your nameserver entry:

  1. Open the website http://ping.eu/nslookup/

  2. Enter your Domain, Ex.: enter “webkiosk.meinedomain.de” in the field “IP address or host name:”

  3. Example result if the nameserver entry is correct:

Aliases:

Now you can assign your domain/subdomain to your WEBKiosk

Go to "My WEBKiosk".

Now click on "Add" at the "Domain" field.

Enter your domain/subdomain and then hit "Save".

In Order to use the entered Domain you will need to activate it, by selecting the respective domain name via the "Tasks" - "Settings" - "Domain" dropdown menu.

Your WEBKiosk is now available with your own Domain (https://webkiosk.meinedomain.de)

Possible Error messages:

webkiosk.meinedomain.de is a CNAME to yumpu.com instead of webkiosks.yumpu.com
You have to change your the CNAME entry at Hoster to webkiosks.yumpu.com

​webkiosk.meinedomain.de Domain has no CNAME value
For your domain no CNAME-Entry has been recognized. Go to step 1 and enter the CNAME for your Domain.
